Hi! I’m Krista, a Social Worker who lives in the Kingston area with my husband and two cats, Chicken & Nugget. I’m also Mohawk, and my family originates from Tyendinaga. My career in mental health began in University when I co-created a mental health program for students that blended both Indigenous knowledge and western mental health practices. This kick-started me into my career, and shortly after I completed a Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto, where I focused on growing my knowledge about the links between physical, mental, and spiritual health. Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of healthcare settings and supported clients with all types of challenges including end of life, caregiver burnout, and crisis intervention.
In early 2020 I moved to working as a therapist full time, and furthered my training in attachment theory, relationship dynamics, and anxiety. I currently use a variety of models (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy) in conjunction with Indigenous wisdom in order to support clients with a wide range of issues including: anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, grief & bereavement, caregiver burnout, relationship challenges, and more.
